A shift doesn't really end at clock-out, it ends when the person gets home. These five habits cost nothing and take seconds, but they close a real gap between "shift over" and "safely home."
1. Share the journey. When a commute is a long drive, a late walk, or a boat ride between islands, CaribSafe's Safe Journey feature lets someone see the route and know when it's done, without a phone call required.
2. Check what's nearby before heading out. CaribSafe's incident map shows what's been reported in the area, crime, traffic, weather, outages, so staff can make an informed call before a late walk home, not after.
3. Build a real Trusted Circle. A Trusted Circle only works if it's actually set up before it's needed. Encourage staff to add the people who should be alerted if something goes wrong, not leave it blank on day one.
4. Know the SOS gesture. Shake to Alert means help can be triggered even if a phone can't be safely reached or unlocked. Staff should know it exists before the one night they need it.
5. Keep the basics covered. SOS and location sharing need a connection and battery. A five-second habit, checking both before a late shift, is the cheapest insurance a team has.
None of this requires a new process or a policy binder. It requires staff who know these tools exist, and who've actually turned them on.
Free for every staff member. Private by design. Built for Caribbean hospitality teams.
