Common Safety Gaps in Staff Journeys (And How to Close Them)

Most safety incidents involving staff journeys don't come down to bad luck. They come down to a handful of avoidable gaps, the same ones, repeating property after property.

Gap 1: No one set up a Trusted Circle

A Trusted Circle only works if it's populated before it's needed. Left blank at onboarding, it usually stays blank, until the one night it would have mattered.

Gap 2: Local knowledge doesn't reach new staff

Long-serving staff often know instinctively which routes or times carry more risk. That knowledge rarely makes it into a new hire's first week unless someone deliberately passes it on.

Gap 3: Late-shift transport is left to chance

Staff finishing after transport options thin out are often left to sort it out themselves. A property that plans this in advance, and gives staff a way to share their journey, closes a real gap.

Gap 4: Emergency tools exist but nobody's tried them

An SOS button or Shake to Alert gesture that's never been demonstrated is a feature nobody thinks to use under pressure. A two-minute walkthrough at induction changes that.

Closing these gaps doesn't require a new policy. It requires making sure the tools already available are actually set up, and actually known, before they're needed.
